Paying for childcare

Paying for childcare is a considerable expense for parents but there is help available, including the use of tax credits, employer childcare vouchers and your entitlement to free sessions under the Nursery Education Funding scheme for 3 and 4 year olds. For more details and help on establishing what funding you can access please visit: Paying for Childcare.

Children who are staying for the full day require a packed lunch. We encourage healthy eating at Little Elves and would be grateful if your packed lunch could reflect this. Please note that nuts or items containing nuts ARE NOT permitted. This includes peanut butter.

Snack Bar

Little Elves provides a ‘snack bar’ which is available for children to come and ‘help themselves’ throughout the session. We like to encourage children to choose for themselves when they would like their snack and for them to select from a variety of healthy snacks, including fruit, vegetables, bread sticks and crackers.

Information about the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)

The Early Years Foundation Stage begins from birth and runs to the end of reception year in primary school. All three and four year old children are entitled to 15 hours of free early education from the start of the term following their third birthday. For more information on this entitlement, please see Paying for Childcare

As a receiver of the grant funding for the early years education of children aged three to five, we are required to plan activities and experiences that will help the children make progress in their development and learning. All children at Little Elves are exposed to a wide variety of different experiences to help broaden their range of skills and interests, helping them to succeed in a caring environment. We believe that all activities should be fun, relevant and motivating.

Our staff carry out regular observations of all children and make note of their interests and progress. We use these observations to ensure that we are planning the right activities to ensure that all our children remain interested and progress well.
